GEOGRAPHIES OF THE SUPER-RURAL
During the industrial boom of the Franco-era ‘Spanish Miracle’, political policy aimed to spur rapid urbanization resulted in the depopulation of rural villages for urban centers. The effect of a politically designed period of economic growth in cities created an equally intense economic depression in the rural villages.
Geographies of the Super-rural is a speculative project that examines the potential futures of rural Spanish villages through the material politics that re-combines, re-valuates and re-recognizes what exists as valuable resources.
This project was developed with Xinxin Li and under the guidance of Juan Herreros during an advanced architecture studio at Columbia University GSAPP.
